LA VELA “Gassa d’Amante” Pét Nat, Sicilia 2022

750mL | 12.5% | 50% Grillo, 50% Zibibbo Aromas of freshly zested lemons, tart lemon candy, and salty sea spray. The palate is reminiscent of a freshly squeeze lemonade with a pinch of salt to bring out the bright citrus flavor. Lively acid and tiny, precise bubbles make for an absolute party on the palate. Complex, yet utterly gluggable. Try and get through this bottle without violently craving a salty, cheesy snack… we dare you! Gaspare La Vela and his wife Monica make wine in western Sicily. La Vela, or “The Sail” in Italian combined with the couples’ love for the sea led them to name their wines after aspects of sailing and the water. “Gassa d’Amante” refers to the unbreakable bowline knot used in sailing that represents the powerful bond between two lovers.
