Winemaker Nitsiki Biyela established Aslina Wines, named for her grandmother, in 2016. Biyela was born and raised in a rural village in KwaZulu-Natal and studied winemaking in the late ‘90s at Stellenbosch University. Her winemaking philosophy stems from her harvest experience in Bordeaux and Tuscany. She remains a highly respected Black female winemaker whose wines are celebrated around the world.
